(Marion County, FL) The State Attorney’s Office of the Fifth Judicial Circuit announces the sentence issued by the court in the case of State of Florida v. Susan Lorincz, following a week-long trial in August. 59-year-old Susan Louise Lorincz was sentenced to 25 years in the Florida Department of Corrections in the case involving the death of her neighbor, 35-year-old Ajike “AJ” Owens.
Earlier this year, on August 16, 2024, jurors found Lorincz guilty of Manslaughter by Use of a Firearm after hearing the evidence and facts of the case presented during the trial.
“The outcome of this trial reflects our commitment to justice and the integrity of our legal system,” said Bill Gladson, Fifth Judicial Circuit State Attorney. “While we understand that many cases can attract diverse opinions, our office will always focus on the facts and the law. This conviction is a testament to the hard work of our team and our dedication to standing up for victims.”
The State Attorney’s Office also wants to recognize the jurors for their diligence in this case, and the hard work of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, which has one of the best major crimes divisions in the State.
Additionally, our office would like to commend Assistant State Attorneys Richard Buxman and Adam Smith for successfully prosecuting this case on behalf of the victim.
